implant a suburethral tape after urethroplasty, with or
without Martius flap protection, when necessary.
Concerning clinical significance, our work describes an
easy and safe alternative to obtain a vaginal flap, preserving
the vascular axis and maintaining the meatus in an
orthotopic location. The result was evaluated with mean-
ingful measures and, as far as we know, the follow-up
period is the longest one reported to date. However, our
study presents the same limitations as the few studies that
have been published in this field—the low number of
patients included in the study.

Conclusions
In conclusion, our study suggests that instrumentation can
be responsible for a large percentage of stenosis in women,
and that a correct diagnosis should be based on a variety of
tests performed. These tests should include the conse-
quences of the stenosis as well as the identification of
anatomical urethral narrowing. Also, this study demon-
strates, despite the low number of patients studied, that
lateral based vaginal flap is a reliable, effective, and long-
lasting technique to treat stricture, with no apparent
secondary effects.
